Our Environmental and Sustainability Policy

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL AND SUSTAINABILITY POLICY

Running a hotel requires the use of significant natural resources. At Nidya Hotel Galataport we take this responsibility seriously and make environmental management part of key roles across our business. We strive to meet the high standards required by the Sustainable Development Goals. We follow current action plans closely and review our environmental performance with every innovation, continually improving the way we manage. We consider helping our guests become more environmentally friendly to be one of our responsibilities.

To strengthen our competitiveness, move towards a circular economy, prevent waste, protect the environment, prevent pollution, raise public awareness and contribute to our future by encouraging an environmentally friendly way of life, we embrace “Zero Waste” and run a series of waste reduction programmes across all operational departments of our hotels. Where waste cannot be avoided, we make sure it is separated for recycling and proper disposal, paying particular attention to hazardous waste. We provide regular training to our employees to keep waste reduction practices continuously integrated and to encourage suggestions for change.

Our organisation aims to assess the environmental consequences of every step it takes, to move forward with options that keep negative effects to a minimum — eliminating them wherever possible — and to strive to contribute to the development of the local community in all our activities.

We work to use energy resources as efficiently as possible and to minimise waste, and we help our employees and guests become more aware by encouraging them to separate their waste.

We are reducing our use of natural resources and aim to increase our use of recycled products. We are prepared for pollution-related risks and emergencies (fire, explosion, flood, earthquake, leakage, etc.) and we comply with environmental regulations.

Why Does Sustainability Matter?

We know that our today and our tomorrow depend on natural resources — and, unfortunately, those resources are not infinite. This is where the principle of sustainability comes in, and in a sense it builds our tomorrow. Achieving sustainability also means striking a balance between nature and people, and achieving that balance depends directly on us.

Sustainability is a fundamental requirement of the tourism sector. In this context, it aims to reduce the negative effects that tourism has on society and the environment. It also helps to revitalise the local economy, protect natural and cultural heritage, and improve the quality of life of both local people and visitors. Tourism and the environment influence each other. The environment, a key resource for tourism, must be managed in a continuous and balanced way, kept from harm, protected and passed on to future generations. In this sense, the environment is the source of success in tourism.

Activity Report

With regard to sustainability, Nidya Hotel Galataport undertakes to fulfil the obligations of the Türkiye Sustainable Tourism Programme and to continually improve its sustainable management system in order to enhance its sustainability performance. Our management system is continually reviewed in light of the state of the sector, environmental, social, technological, economic and cultural risks, and changes and updates arising from legislation, and our systems and policies are updated whenever necessary. “Our sustainability policies” represent our company’s commitment in this area, and all our direction will follow from this intention. Our aim is to turn the principle of sustainability into a “way of doing business” in the key areas of our hotel and to embed it in our corporate memory. Sustainability work is coordinated by Hotel Management, and our activities and the evaluation of our performance in this area are always open to the expectations and views of our stakeholders.
